: Pericardial and pleural effusions are two complications recently described in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 infections. There are several mechanisms that have been proposed and refer to SARS-CoV-2's capacity to bind to cell surfaces via various receptors and its broad tissue tropism that might cause significant complications. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the incidence of pericardial and pleural effusions during COVID-19 infection as well as to determine the risk factors associated with these complications.

Elevated liver enzymes are frequently reported in SARS-CoV-2-infected patients. Several mechanisms of liver injury have been proposed, but no clear conclusions were drawn. We aimed to evaluate hepatocellular and cholestatic injury in relation to the administration of potentially hepatotoxic drugs included in the current COVID-19 therapeutic guidelines in a retrospective cohort of 396 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Two stochastic sensors based on the modification of graphite paste with the complexes formed by phthalocyanine (PhCN) with Ni and Cu were designed and used for molecular recognition of IL-8, IL-10, IL-12, and IL-15. The four interleukins were recognized according to their signatures-called t (qualitative parameter) from the diagrams obtained after measurements. The limit of determination for IL-8 was 1 × 10μg mL when both stochastic sensors were used; for IL-10, the determination limit was 4.

Our work aimed to reveal and explore connections between the cellular morphometric features and the differentiation degree of cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Six cases were studied, for which biopsy was performed before the radiation treatment. The microscopic exam diagnosed two cases of well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma and four cases of moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma.
