Purpose: This article examines teaching the consequences of harm and error to multisite prelicensure baccalaureate, second-degree baccalaureate, and graduate nursing students utilizing the RaDonda Vaught Trial as an exemplar. The Jigsaw Technique (JT) was the chosen learning strategy to empower students with knowledge and understanding through the lens of terms acquired throughout existing concept-based nursing curriculum.

Results: Nursing students evaluated the approach to this activity using both quantitative and qualitative feedback.

As part of a continuing medical education activity, primary care physicians in Arizona were asked to draw how they feel about treating patients with chronic pain and addiction. Their drawings, complete with cliffs, walls, torn-out hair, and connected hearts, make for a harrowing look at burnout, angst, and empathy among physicians who treat this subset of patients. Public health and exercise facilitators were troubled, leading them to publish this essay along with a selection of the drawings that depict the feelings of the physicians who feel ill-prepared to treat this patient population, which is only growing in number and needs.

The enediyne antitumor antibiotics have remarkable structures and exhibit potent DNA cleavage properties that have inspired continued interest as cancer therapeutics. Their complex structures and high reactivity, however, pose formidable challenges to their production and development in the clinic. We report here proof-of-concept studies using a mutasynthesis strategy to combine chemical synthesis of select modifications to a key iodoanthracene-γ-thiolactone intermediate in the biosynthesis of dynemicin A and all other known anthraquinone-fused enediynes (AFEs).
