Background: Eimeria genus belongs to the apicomplexan parasite phylum and is responsible for coccidiosis, an intestinal disease with a major economic impact on poultry production. Eimeria tenella is one of the most virulent species in chickens. In a previous study, we showed a negative impact of caecal microbiota on the physiopathology of this infection.

We have described, in this study, the isolation from sewage samples and preliminary characterization of bacteriophages that are active against the group.

The famous French dessert "ile flottante" consists of a sweet egg white foam floating on a vanilla custard cream, which contains highly nutritive raw materials, including milk, sugar and egg. Spoilage issues are therefore a key concern for the manufacturers. This study explored the bacterial diversity of 64 spoiled custard cream desserts manufactured by 2 French companies.
