Machine learning-based detection of sleep-disordered breathing in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Background: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is often concomitant with sleep-disordered breathing (SDB), which can cause adverse cardiovascular events. Although an appropriate approach to SDB prevents cardiac remodelling, detection of concomitant SDB in patients with HCM remains suboptimal. Thus, we aimed to develop a machine learning-based discriminant model for SDB in HCM.

Surgical repair of a pseudoaneurysm derived from a nine-year-old saphenous vein graft after coronary artery bypass.

A 57-year-old male presented intermittent pain between the left shoulder and neck. He had undergone coronary artery bypass twice and all grafts had been confirmed to be angiographically intact at three and a half years prior. Coronary angiography revealed that a pseudoaneurysm derived from around the proximal ascending aortic anastomosis of the saphenous vein graft that connected to the left anterior descending branch and #4-atrioventricular branch sequentially.

Antiarrhythmic and Arrhythmogenic Actions of Varying Levels of Extracellular Magnesium: Possible Cellular Basis for the Differences in the Efficacy of magnesium and Lidocaine in Torsade de Pointes.

BACKGROUND: In recent years, there has been an increasing use of antiarrhythmic drugs that act predominantly by prolonging myocardial repolarization. An inevitable electrophysiologic consequence of these drugs is the development of torsade de pointes as a proarrhythmic reaction. Both intravenous lidocaine and magnesium sulphate have been used in the acute control of such a proarrhythmia.

Transient giant negative T wave in acute anterior myocardial infarction predicts R wave recovery and preservation of left ventricular function.

Objective: To investigate the value of a giant negative T wave (> or = 1.0 mV) in precordial leads of 12-lead electrocardiograms in the acute phase of Q wave myocardial infarction as a predictor of myocardial salvage.

Methods: Coronary angiographic and electrocardiographic findings, left ventricular ejection fraction in the chronic stage, and levels of cardiac enzymes were compared in patients with myocardial infarction with (group GNT, n = 31) and without (group N, n = 20) a giant negative T wave.
