Two studies were conducted to determine the impact of an absorption enhancer containing a combination of lysophospholipids, monoglycerides and synthetic emulsifiers (LEX) on apparent ileal digestibility, metabolizable energy (ME), and growth performance of growing pigs. In the digestibility study, 12 male crossbred [Duroc x (Large White x Landrace)] pigs with an initial body weight (BW) of 30 kg were randomly allocated to two dietary treatments: (1) a positive control (PC) receiving standard diets formulated to 3100 kcal ME/kg, and (2) a negative control formulated with −100 kcal ME/kg and −2.5% AA content vs.

Prediction of Recurrence Risk in Solid Pseudopapillary Neoplasm of the Pancreas: Single-Institution Experience.

Background: Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN) of the pancreas is a low-grade malignant neoplasm with unpredictable behavior. Factors associated with recurrence were not conclusively identified. The aim of this study is to define the clinicopathological criteria for recurrence risk prediction in SPNs based on the most recent scientific evidence and to present our experience with SPNs.

A Modified Laparoscopic Technique for the Removal of Nonfragmentable Giant Gastric Trichobezoar.

Bezoars are usually defined as collections of nondigestible matter that most commonly accumulates in the stomach and can sometimes extend to the small bowel. Trichobezoars are a rare entity which is most commonly observed in young psychiatric females with trichotillomania and trichophagia. Here, we report a case of giant gastric trichobezoar and a novel technique of laparoscopic removal in a 16 year old female with trichophagia.

Influence of chromium propionate on the carcass characteristics and immune response of commercial broiler birds under normal rearing conditions.

The study investigated the effect of supplementation of chromium propionate at different dosage levels (100 to 3,200 µg/kg of elemental chromium in feed) on the performance, carcass characteristics, and immune response of broiler birds. The study was conducted on male broiler chickens (Cobb 400) for a period of 42 d as per the completely randomized design. Seven hundred 1-d-old birds were randomly segregated into 7 treatment groups, each with 10 replicates, and each replicate having 10 birds.
