Introduction: This in vivo study aimed to clarify the position of the sublingual artery (SLA) relative to the mandibular bone and to infer the potential risk for injury during dental implant surgery.

Methods: Contrast-enhanced computed tomography images of the mouth of 50 edentulous patients (100 sides) treated at Tokushima University Hospital were reviewed. Curved planar reconstructed images perpendicular to the alveolar ridge were processed and classified into molar, premolar, canine, and incisor regions.

Holocarboxylase synthetase deficiency (HSD), an autosomal recessive biotin cycle disorder, is caused by () genetic variants, resulting in multiple carboxylase deficiency. Catabolic stress can induce metabolic crises in patients with HSD. Although pharmacological doses of biotin have improved HLCS enzyme activity and HSD prognosis, the prolonged life expectancy has gradually highlighted novel issues in adult patients with HSD.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on optimizing the production of crystalline particles, aiming for thicker and less agglomerated crystals to improve the crystal size distribution (CSD) in reactive crystallization.
  • It was found that operating at a low solution pH increases the thickness of primary particles, enhancing agglomeration, while a high pH reduces the nucleation rate and overall agglomeration.
  • A new operational strategy involving adjustments in the addition method of feed solutions is proposed to navigate the balance between particle thickness and agglomeration, ultimately leading to a better CSD in the final product.
