Aims And Objectives: Dexmedetomidine is a relatively new, potent, and highly selective α2-adrenergic receptor agonist used for perioperative sympatholytic, analgesia, and sedation. We conducted this study to evaluate the effects of dexmedetomidine as an adjunct to local anaesthesia for maxillofacial soft tissue injuries as day care in the emergency department on patient hemodynamics and analgesic efficacy.

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted pathogen, globally. The microtubule-targeting antineoplastic agent, paclitaxel, is highly efficacious against a wide spectrum of human cancers. However, dose-limiting toxicity and development of drug resistance limit its clinical application. Development of novel strategies that overcome chemoresistance and sensitize cancer cells to paclitaxel can enhance the therapeutic effect of this drug.

Paclitaxel is the most promising chemotherapeutic agent of plant origin despite its high cost and dose-limiting toxicity. Our earlier report has shown that cervical cancer cells can be sensitized by curcumin to paclitaxel-induced apoptosis through down-regulation of NF-κB and Akt. In the present study we have attempted to decipher the signaling pathways regulating the synergism of paclitaxel and curcumin.
