Intestinal ligation during ovariohysterectomy has not been previously reported in dogs. Risk factors for this complication appear to be the same as those for ureteral injury, namely decreased surgical visualization due to small patient size and small incision size. This case report describes how the presentation of intestinal ligation in a 2-kg, 11-month-old chihuahua can mimic that of iatrogenic ureteral injury with vomiting, anorexia, and severe azotemia.

Case Summary: A 1-year-old male neutered domestic shorthair cat presented on an emergency basis with clinical signs suspected to be secondary to organophosphate (OP) toxicity. The control of clinical abnormalities (bradycardia, obtundation, tachypnea, anorexia) was achieved using high-dose continuous rate intravenous infusion (CRI) of atropine sulfate (maximum rate 0.1 mg/kg/h).

Methods: A seven-step meta-ethnography and synthesis of qualitative evidence was undertaken, informed by the Meta-Ethnography Reporting Guidelines (eMERGe). Four major databases were searched (Medline, EMBASE, CINAHL, PsycINFO; January 1995-January 2022, updated July 2023) for qualitative studies exploring survivors' and/or key supporters' experiences of cardiac arrest survival.

Manganese is a common component of human joint supplements and may be a source of ingestion and subsequent toxicosis in dogs. Although hepatotoxicity secondary to manganese toxicosis has been reported in dogs before, no descriptions of successful management of manganese toxicosis has been reported in veterinary literature. A 5 yr old spayed female Shetland sheepdog and a 5 yr old female Shetland sheepdog were evaluated following accidental ingestion of a joint supplement.
