Multifunctional ortho-quinones are required for the formation of thiol-catechol-connectivities (TCC) but can be delicate to handle. We present the electrochemical oxidation of the dipeptide DiDOPA, achieving up to 92 % conversion efficiency of the catechols to ortho-quinones. Graphite and stainless steel could be employed as cost-efficient electrodes.

It is therefore all the more important, in addition to initiating treatment, such as percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG), noninvasive ventilation therapy (NIVT) and invasive ventilation therapy via tracheotomy (IVT), to discuss the possible termination of these measures early on.
Question: What is the importance of advance directives for those affected and where are possible deficits in therapy planning for the end of life?
Material And Method: Between March 2017 and January 2019 patients with a clinically confirmed diagnosis of ALS at six treatment centers were asked to fill out a questionnaire.

Stem cell models for early mammalian development offer new experimental opportunities to access spatio-temporal details of the cell-cell interactions that govern cell differentiation and tissue patterning. This review summarizes recent studies that have used stem cell models to investigate the spatial range of developmental cell-cell communication systems. A key message from these works is that important biochemical signals for cell differentiation in these systems, such as Nodal and fibroblast growth factors (FGFs), often act over short distances of only a few cell diameters.

Two PSAs were synthesized from a tetravalent thiol star-polyester forming thiol-catechol-connectivities (TCC) with either the biorelated DiDopa-bisquinone (BY*Q) or the fossil-based bisquinone A (BQA). The PSAs enable debonding by oxidation of TCC-catechols to quinones.
