Background: Reducing length of stay has been proposed as a key component of policies that aim to meet demand and minimize costs associated with total joint arthroplasty. However, few studies explore shifting of healthcare utilization when length of stay is shortened.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study examined patients undergoing primary, total hip and knee arthroplasty for osteoarthritis to simulate a policy-level institutional reduction in acute hospital stay by 1 day.

The elective ablation of cervical lymph nodes, via surgery or irradiation, is a mainstay in the treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). In this setting, the decision to treat the clinically node negative neck is based upon risk analysis of various factors, primarily derived from tumour features. However, the impact of ablation of tumour-draining lymph nodes upon the tumour-immune response and immunocompetence is largely unknown.

Frozen Section Analysis of Sentinel Nodes in Patients With Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Importance: Frozen section (FS) analysis of sentinel nodes offers potential on-table diagnosis and treatment for occult metastasis in oral squamous cell cancer. Systematic analysis of FS during sentinel node biopsy has not been illuminated in the literature.

Objective: To systematically review pooled data from studies using FS analysis in evaluating sentinel nodes in patients with cT1-T2 N0 oral squamous cell cancer.
