Infections with soil-transmitted helminths pose a significant threat to wildlife in enclosures, where transmission of these parasitic larvae is easier due to the limited space. Nematophagous fungi offer a promising solution as they can naturally control these nematodes. In this study, three nematophagous fungi (, , ) purchased from the non-profit global biological resource center ATCC were tested for their suitability as biological control agents.

High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [P([p_{T}])]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

Background: Treatment options for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) are limited and patients face a poor prognosis. Here, we sought to identify drugs that target TNBC vulnerabilities and understand the biology underlying these responses. We analyzed the Broad Institute DepMap to identify recurrent TNBC vulnerabilities and performed a 45-compound screen on vulnerability-related pathways on a set of up to 8 TNBC cell lines.

Protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 22 (PTPN22) lies downstream of the T cell receptor (TCR) and attenuates T cell signaling by dephosphorylating key effector proteins such as LCK, Zap70, and the intracellular region of the TCR. Recent evidence implicates PTPN22 as an exciting target for enabling immunotherapeutic efficacy against cancer. We carried out structural optimization of a benzofuran salicylic acid-based orthosteric PTPN22 inhibitor 8b, using a combination of crystal structure analysis, synthesis, matched molecular pairs analysis, and biochemical and cell-based assays.
