Increased immune evasion by emerging and highly mutated SARS-CoV-2 variants is a key challenge to the control of COVID-19. The majority of these mutations mainly target the spike protein, allowing the new variants to escape the immunity previously raised by vaccination and/or infection by earlier variants of SARS-CoV-2. In this study, we investigated the neutralizing capacity of antibodies against emerging variants of interest circulating between May 2023 and October 2024 using sera from representative samples of the Kenyan population.

Angiomyofibroblastoma is a benign, usually small neoplasm typically constituted by spindle-shaped and epithelioid cells in a vascularized, myxoid-fibrous stromal background. It is most often seen in the superficial genitalia of female patients of reproductive age. However, various clinical and histologic features have been reported, including tumors in male patients, malignant transformation, extragenital sites, huge sizes, and a prominent lipomatous pattern.

Controlled human infection models (CHIMs) are a critical tool for the understanding of infectious disease progression, characterising immune responses to infection and rapid assessment of vaccines or drug treatments. There is increasing interest in using CHIMs for vaccine development and an obvious need for widely available and fit-for-purpose challenge agents. Inno4Vac is a large European consortium working towards accelerating and de-risking the development of new vaccines, including development of CHIMs for influenza, respiratory syncytial virus and Clostridium difficile.
