Investigation on the origin of sperm morphological defects: oxidative attacks, chromatin immaturity, and DNA fragmentation.

DNA fragmentation can be deleterious on spermatozoon morphology but the pathogenesis of teratozoospermia associated with DNA breaks is not fully understood, even if oxidative attacks and defects in chromatin maturation are hypothesized. Therefore, this study is one of the first to clarify on the underlying hypothesizes behind such observations. The objectives of our study were to assess the role of oxidative attacks in DNA damage pathogenesis in ejaculated spermatozoa from patients with isolated teratozoospermia.

[Prevalence of height-weight deficit in Tunisian boys of the Northern and Southern regions].

Background: Malnutrition is owing to an alimentation regarding quantity and quality food. aim: To examine the different forms of malnutrition among Tunisian boys of the north and south regions, to form an idea about the state of their health and their living conditions.

Methods: Our empirical investigation was carried out on 1082 northern boys and 1016 southern boys, aged from 10 to 14 years including 1057 non pubescent boys and 1041 prepubescent boys.

Infective endarteritis and false mycotic aneurysm complicating aortic coarctation.

A 12-year-old boy with coarctation of aorta developed infective endarteritis and mycotic aneurysm at the site distal to coarctation. The computed tomography angiogram was very helpful in the diagnosis. Medical management and early surgical intervention was curative.

[Performances of imaging investigations and scintigraphy for pre operative hyperparathyroidism].

Background: Hyperparathyroidism is a frequent affection. Therapeutic management is based on surgical removal of pathological glands. Therapeutic results are ameliorated thanks to preoperative imaging approach.

Survey of vaccination policies in French healthcare institutions.

Objective: The survey was implemented to describe vaccination policies for healthcare professionals in French healthcare institutions.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey based on questionnaires was sent to occupational physicians and chairpersons of hospital infection prevention and control committees (HIPC) of 38 institutions between November 2010 and January 2011.

Results: Twenty-nine occupational physicians and 26 hospital infection prevention and control committees chairpersons (HIPC), from 30 institutions answered (response rate: 79%), 70% of the institutions were university hospitals.
