Climate change is the greatest threat to human existence. Currently it impacts breast cancer care by disrupting treatment, by food poverty and economic hardship and through fossil fuel pollution which increases breast cancer incidence. These impacts are greatest in those already experiencing deprivation.

Introduction: Although treatment advances have improved survival rates for patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC), patient expressed needs have not been evaluated in Ireland to date.

Methods: A 76 item questionnaire was designed by the lead author and a cohort of 41 other MBC patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The online survey was publicised nationally on all media platforms.

Background: The early integration of a specialist palliative care team is demonstrated to have numerous benefits for patients. These extend beyond end-of-life care to include reducing depressive symptoms, improving quality of life and reducing unnecessary interventions.
