Climate Therapy: Sustainability Solutions for Breast Cancer Care in the Anthropocene Era.

Climate change is the greatest threat to human existence. Currently it impacts breast cancer care by disrupting treatment, by food poverty and economic hardship and through fossil fuel pollution which increases breast cancer incidence. These impacts are greatest in those already experiencing deprivation.

A patient-led survey on information and communication needs of patients with metastatic breast cancer in Ireland and Northern Ireland (CTRIAL-IE 23-05).

Introduction: Although treatment advances have improved survival rates for patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC), patient expressed needs have not been evaluated in Ireland to date.

Methods: A 76 item questionnaire was designed by the lead author and a cohort of 41 other MBC patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The online survey was publicised nationally on all media platforms.

Climate change advocacy and cancer clinical trial organisations.

Background: Climate change is a threat to human health; equally health care is a threat to climate change as it accounts for 4% of greenhouse gas emissions and 30% of the world's electronically stored data. 350,000 international trials are registered on ClinicalTrials.gov with ~27·5 million tonnes of emissions (equivalent to half of annual Danish emissions).

Gynaecologic oncology referrals to specialist palliative care in a tertiary referral centre: population, characteristics and outcomes.

Background: The early integration of a specialist palliative care team is demonstrated to have numerous benefits for patients. These extend beyond end-of-life care to include reducing depressive symptoms, improving quality of life and reducing unnecessary interventions.

Aims: This study aims to characterise the patient population referred to the specialist palliative care service with a diagnosis of gynaecological cancer.
