The prognosis for patients with lung cancer bone metastases has improved with the use of novel systemic agents. These patients might need surgery or radiotherapy to alleviate symptoms or maintain function. However, there is currently no disease specific algorithm to guide multidisciplinary decisions.

Identifying Trends in Oncology Research through a Bibliographic Analysis of Cancer Research and Treatment.

During the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Cancer Association, articles published in Cancer Research and Treatment from 2004 to 2023 were assessed based on the subject and design of each study. Based on this analysis, trends in domestic cancer research were inferred and directions were suggested for the future development of Cancer Research and Treatment.

Interfacial properties of a ZnO/PTFE composite from density functional tight-binding simulations.

Metal-oxide-reinforced plastic nanocomposites are widely used in high-tech industries, but the reinforcement mechanism of the metal oxide is not fully understood. Here we investigate the interfacial properties of a zinc-oxide-reinforced amorphous polytetrafluoroethylene (a-PTFE) composite as a prototype for such composites using superlattice modeling and density functional tight-binding molecular dynamics simulations. To study the ZnO/a-PTFE composites, the superlattice supercells are built using a ZnO (112̄0) surface supercell and a-PTFE layer with an experimental density of 1.

A new proposal of simplified classification of non-small cell lung cancer oligometastases for easy applicability through systematic literature analysis and meta-analysis validation.

Introduction: Oligometastasis (OM) exhibits wide range of prognosis, which necessitates appropriate classification for optimal therapeutic decision-making. Complementing the ESTRO-EORTC classification which lacked prognostic differentiation and was rather complex, we propose a new and simpler classification based on systematic literature analysis and meta-analysis validation.

Method: The databases were searched up to April 2024.

Clinical Significance of Biliary Invasion at Diagnosis in Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer Stage B-C Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Nationwide Cohort Analysis in South Korea.

Introduction: Evidence of biliary invasion as a prognostic factor in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is unclear. We aimed to verify the significance of clinically diagnosed biliary involvement in patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage B-C (BCLC B-C) HCC.

Methods: The Korean Liver Cancer Study Group randomly extracted data of patients with HCC enrolled in the Korean Central Cancer Registry between 2011 and 2016 from approximately 50 hospitals nationwide.
