Introduction: Arthritis, one of the most common chronic diseases among older people, greatly impairs quality of life through a variety of physical and psychological challenges. This study used network analysis to gain a deeper understanding of the relationships between the indicators of quality of life in older adults with arthritis depending on duration of disease.
Methods: This cross-sectional study used data from 874 older adults with osteoarthritis and/or rheumatoid arthritis who answered the eighth (2019-2021) Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

The brain's substantial metabolic requirements, consuming a substantial fraction of the body's total energy despite its relatively small mass, necessitate sophisticated metabolic mechanisms for efficient energy distribution and utilization. The astrocyte-neuron lactate shuttle (ANLS) hypothesis has emerged as a fundamental framework explaining the metabolic cooperation between astrocytes and neurons, whereby astrocyte-derived lactate serves as a crucial energy substrate for neurons. This review synthesizes current understanding of brain energy metabolism, focusing on the dual roles of lactate as both an energy substrate and a signaling molecule.

The primary challenge in treating GBM lies in the restrictive nature of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), impeding effective drug delivery to the brain. In this study, intranasal polymeric micelles encapsulating a quercetin-etoposide combination were developed to induce synergistic apoptotic effects and enhance direct drug delivery to the brain.
