Recent studies suggest the role of gut microbes in bile acid metabolism in the development and progression of colorectal cancer. However, the surveys of the association between fecal bile acid concentrations and colorectal cancer (CRC) have been inconsistent. We searched online to identify relevant cross-sectional and case-control studies published online in the major English language databases (Medline, Embase, Web of Science, AMED, and CINAHL) up to January 1, 2024.

In this study, the RC/HDL-C ratio during the first trimester was examined as a potential indicator of the onset of GDM during the second trimester.
Methods: This was a secondary analysis of data from a Korea-based prospective cohort study.
Myeloid cells accumulate extensively in most tumors and play a critical role in immunosuppression of the tumor microenvironment (TME). Like T cells, myeloid cells also express immune checkpoint molecules, which induce the immunosuppressive phenotype of these cells. In this review, we summarize the tumor-promoting function and immune checkpoint expression of four types of myeloid cells: macrophages, neutrophils, dendritic cells, and myeloid-derived suppressor cells, which are the main components of the TME.

Previous studies of single neurons showed that private somatic mutations increase both during normal aging and in neurodegenerative disorders, and show diverse mutational patterns.
Method: We applied two orthogonal single-nucleus whole-genome sequencing (snWGS) methods to neurons isolated from the prefrontal cortex of 15 individuals with CTE, and 4 individuals with RHI but no CTE diagnosis, and compared mutational rates and spectra with neurons from neurotypical controls and Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Background: Adherence to treatment guidelines for agitation in dementia is suboptimal and inconsistent. We designed an Integrated Care Pathway (ICP) that standardized behavioral and pharmacological interventions for agitation in dementia, and evaluated it against treatment-as-usual (TAU). The two primary hypotheses were that, compared to TAU, the ICP would result in (1) lower agitation and (2) lower rates of polypharmacy at study end.
