Research on educational simulations has attempted to decipher the simulation-based learning (SBL) process by examining factors that facilitate and impede this process. In the current study, we examined the role of SBL participants' hindrances, in particular their experience of anxiety or fear, which we view using the framework of leaving one's comfort zone. Departure from one's comfort zone has never been studied in the context of SBL in teacher education.

Study Design: A 5-week telemedicine psychoeducation group-based programme (WE BEAT) was developed for adolescents ( = 20; 13-18 years) with Fontan-palliated CHD aimed at improving resiliency and psychological well-being. Outcome measures included surveys of resilience (Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale), benefit finding (Benefit/Burden Scale for Children), depression, anxiety, peer relationships, and life satisfaction (National Institutes of Health Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System scales).
Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is an uncommon neuroendocrine tumour that is usually asymptomatic at its onset and therefore may not present clinically until the patient has developed advanced or metastatic disease. Common metastatic sites include cervical lymph nodes, liver, bone and lung. This is the case of a patient who presented with an incidental posterior mediastinal mass.
