Objective: Identification of instrument failure (IF) represents a point to improve the quality of services provided by medical laboratories. Here, a logistic regression model was created to define the relationship between instrument downtime and laboratory quality management systems.
Methods: Interval-level quality control (QC) and categorical quality assurance data from 3 identical chemistry analyzers was utilized to generate a logistic regression model able to predict IF.
Background: Community-acquired pneumonia is a well-studied condition; yet, in the urgent care setting, patient characteristics and adherence to guideline-recommended care are poorly described. Within Intermountain Health, a nonprofit integrated US health care system based in Utah, more patients present to urgent care clinics (UCCs) than emergency departments (EDs) for pneumonia care.
Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study 1 January 2019 through 31 December 2020 in 28 UCCs within Utah.
Background: Transfusion services aim to maintain sufficient blood inventory to support patients, even with challenges introduced by COVID-19.
Objectives: To review blood usage and wastage before, during, and after COVID-19 surges, and to evaluate effects on inventory.
Methods: In a retrospective review, we evaluated the association between time periods corresponding to the initial wave of COVID-19 (pre-COVID-19, quarantine, and postquarantine) and blood usage/wastage.
Objectives: Cannabis policy evaluations commonly assume equal policy exposure across a state's population using date of implementation as the key independent variable. This study aimed to explore policy knowledge as another measure of exposure and describe the sociodemographic, cognitive, and behavioral correlates of cannabis policy knowledge in young adults in Vermont.
Methods: Data are from the PACE Vermont Study (Spring 2019), an online cohort study of Vermonters (12-25).
