Healthcare professionals beliefs and priorities for the rehabilitation of patients after ankle fracture surgery: A qualitative study.

Objective: The study aims to understand healthcare professionals' (HCPs) beliefs and practices in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients after ankle fracture surgery, with the goal of informing new rehabilitation interventions based on these insights.

Background: There is considerable variation in postoperative rehabilitation advice given to patients with ankle fractures, leading to inconsistent care. Prior studies have primarily focused on patients' experiences, making it crucial to explore HCPs' perspectives to identify areas for intervention.

Rehabilitation for ankle fractures in adults.

Background: Ankle fracture is one of the most common lower limb fractures. Whilst immobilisation of the ankle can support and protect the fracture site during early healing, this also increases the risk of ankle weakness, stiffness, and residual pain. Rehabilitation aims to address the after-effects of this injury, to improve ankle function and quality of life.

Transobturator-cable-fixation in pelvic ring injuries with symphyseal disruption - a last resort?

Purpose: The role of transobturator-cable-fixation (TOCF) in traumatic symphyseal rupture of the pelvic ring remains unclear. This case series aims to evaluate TOCF in complex and revision cases in pelvic surgery.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of a chronological case series was conducted, studying pelvic fractures stabilized using TOCF between January 2006 and December 2022.

Patient experiences and desires for recovery after ankle fracture surgery.

Objective: This study investigates patients' experiences of commencing weight-bearing after ankle fracture surgery and their recovery priorities to inform a new rehabilitation intervention.

Methods: Embedded within the Weight bearing in Ankle Fractures (WAX) trial, this qualitative study conducted semi-structured interviews with patients following ankle fracture surgery. The Behaviour Change Wheel (BCW) framework guided the interview questions to ensure comprehensive domain coverage.

Multidisciplinary management of orthopaedic trauma - are we adhering to the guidelines?

Introduction: A multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach to polytrauma patients minimises morbidity and mortality. This project assesses the extent to which British Orthopaedic Association Standards for Trauma guidelines for the management of the frail Orthopaedic patient are currently being met.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed of all Trauma and Orthopaedic patients in multiple medical institutions over a 2-week capture period from 1 March 2022 until 14 March 2022 inclusive.
