Purpose: To identify needs of metastatic breast cancer patients prior to starting a new systemic treatment.
Methods: Fifty patients with newly diagnosed, recurrent, or progressive metastatic breast cancer completed an electronic survey which included patient-reported outcome measures of function (PROMIS Cancer Function Brief 3D profile), quality of life (FACT-G), exercise (Godin Leisure-Time exercise questionnaire), and diet (REAP-S); demographic information; and self-reported use of or referral to specific resources at the cancer center prior to beginning a new systemic oncologic treatment.
Results: Prior to starting a new treatment for metastatic breast cancer, patients reported mild functional impairment (PROMIS Cancer Function Brief 3D profile mean score:42.
is a rapidly emerging fungal pathogen associated with high resistance rates, particularly in healthcare settings. It most commonly affects patients with severe underlying medical conditions and requiring complex medical care. Patients with invasive medical devices tend to be at increased risk for getting and developing infection.

Using morselized corticocancellous bone from spinous processes and laminae has been suggested as an alternative, especially in low-resource settings where access to synthetic cages is limited. The aim of this study was to compare radiographic and functional outcomes of synthetic cages with those of morselized local autograft.

Systematic characterization of driver events in the TRACERx non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cohort identified that genetic alterations in six genes, including FAT1, result in homologous recombination (HR) repair deficiencies and CIN. Using orthogonal genetic and experimental approaches, we demonstrate that FAT1 alterations are positively selected before genome doubling and associated with HR deficiency.

Assessing suspected HCID cases requires specialised infection control measures including patient isolation, personal protective equipment (PPE), and decontamination. There is need for an accessible course for NHS staff to improve confidence and competence in using HCID PPE outside specialist HCID centres.
