Obesity and overfat are most commonly assessed using the body mass index (BMI), which evaluates "total obesity", without accounting for body fat distribution. Therefore, several indexes of obesity have been proposed, combining BMI with other measures or singular parameters. The aim of the study was to evaluate the accuracy of a new, simple index that takes into account both BMI and Waist Circumference (WC), Waist Body Mass Index (wBMI) in comparison to BMI, WC e Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR) for the identification of overfat and obese patients identified by fat mass percentage (FM%).

Multimodal real-time frequency tracking of cantilever arrays in liquid environment for biodetection: Comprehensive setup and performance analysis.

We present a nanomechanical platform for real-time quantitative label-free detection of target biomolecules in a liquid environment with mass sensitivity down to few pg. Newly fabricated arrays of up to 18 cantilevers are integrated in a micromachined fluidic chamber, connected to software-controlled fluidic pumps for automated sample injections. We discuss two functionalization approaches to independently sensitize the interface of different cantilevers.

The Florence Emotional Eating Drive (FEED): a validation study of a self-report questionnaire for emotional eating.

Purpose: Emotional eating is a trans-diagnostic dimension in eating disorders and is present in many other conditions that could affect eating attitudes. At present, there is no instrument that measures emotional eating evaluating both the intensity and the frequency of emotion-induced desire to eat. The aim of the study was the validation of the Florence Emotional Eating Drive (FEED).
