Background: The objective of this study was to assess long-term outcome in patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage admitted to the intensive care unit.

Methods: Mortality and Glasgow Outcome Scale, Barthel Index, and 5-level EQ-5D version (EQ-5D-5L) scores were analyzed in a multicenter cohort study of three Spanish hospitals (336 patients). Mortality was also analyzed in the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III (MIMIC-III) database.

Article Synopsis
  • Stroke is a prevalent condition that often leads to significant disability, prompting the development of a predictive model using Spain’s Minimum Basic Data Set (MBDS) to assess ischaemic stroke mortality.
  • The study involved external validation and recalibration of the predictive model with data from a later cohort (2016-2018), revealing a recalibrated model with an AUC of 0.743, indicating its ability to predict mortality.
  • Key variables affecting mortality included age, gender, and pre-existing conditions like ischaemic heart disease and heart failure, demonstrating the model's moderate to high effectiveness in predicting patient outcomes.

Introduction: The Andalusian Registry of Pregnancies in patients with multiple sclerosis is the largest Spanish registry on multiple sclerosis (MS) and family planning. For the first time, it includes information on the fertility of men with MS. The influence of the use of a disease-modifying treatment (DMT) on the health of the foetus/newborn and the impact of breastfeeding on MS are also analysed.

In triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), the pleiotropic NDRG1 (N-Myc downstream regulated gene 1) promotes progression and worse survival, yet contradictory results were documented, and the mechanisms remain unknown. Phosphorylation and localization could drive NDRG1 pleiotropy, nonetheless, their role in TNBC progression and clinical outcome was not investigated. We found enhanced p-NDRG1 (Thr346) by TGFβ1 and explored whether it drives NDRG1 pleiotropy and TNBC progression.
