The potential of neurotransmitters and neural hormones as possible G-quadruplex DNA binders was analyzed using fluorescence spectroscopy, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), DNA melting analysis, and molecular docking. G-quadruplex sequences, (GGC) and GC, with roles in Fragile X syndrome and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), respectively, were selected, and their interactions with melatonin, serotonin, and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), were studied. Both melatonin and serotonin demonstrated strong interactions with the DNA sequences with hydrogen bonding being the primary mode of interaction, with some non-intercalative interactions involving the π systems.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjectives: We aimed to understand how artificial intelligence (AI) influences dentists by comparing their gaze behavior when using versus not using an AI software to detect primary proximal carious lesions on bitewing radiographs.
Methods: 22 dentists assessed a median of 18 bitewing images resulting in 170 datasets from dentists without AI and 179 datasets from dentists with AI, after excluding data with poor gaze recording quality. We compared time to first fixation, fixation count, average fixation duration, and fixation frequency between both trial groups.
Sudden unexplained death in the young poses a diagnostically challenging situation for practicing autopsy pathologists, especially in the absence of anatomic and toxicological findings. Postmortem genetic testing may identify pathogenic variants in the deceased of such cases, including those associated with arrhythmogenic channelopathies and cardiomyopathies. We conducted an eye tracking experiment to characterize dentists' scanpaths and thus their gaze patterns when assessing bitewing radiographs to detect primary proximal carious lesions.

Anti-M is usually a naturally occurring antibody directed against M in the MNS blood group system. It does not require exposure to the antigen from previous transfusion or pregnancy. Anti-M is usually of the immunoglobulin M (IgM) isotype, binds best at about 4°C, binds well at room temperature, and rarely binds at 37°C.
