Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the maximum loss of median and ulnar nerve substances that can be treated by direct suture in elbow flexion and to quantify this elbow flexion. The other objective is to determine the participation of the wrist position in this direct suture in elbow flexion.
Methods: We performed an experimental study on 6 ulnar nerve lesions and 6 median nerve lesions.
Purpose: To compare the outcomes of distal neurotomy (DN) versus proximal neurotomy (PN) for the surgical management of painful neuromas in amputees and non-amputees, whether used in passive or active treatment.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on patients who underwent surgery for painful traumatic neuromas between 2019 and 2022. DN with neuroma excision was performed at the level of the injury or amputation.
Background: Implant removal in orthopaedics after fracture consolidation is a very common procedure but is still associated with a high rate of surgical site infection (SSI). Antibiotic prophylaxis is not recommended but advocated by some.
Aim: To assess the efficacy of antibiotic prophylaxis in the prevention of early SSI following orthopaedic implant removal.
The radial nerve conveys sensory and motor information to and from the upper limb, and radial nerve injury can induce functional disability, as demonstrated by the case of the renowned French writer Louis-Ferdinand Céline (1894-1961), who sustained a gunshot injury to his right arm in October 1914. Radial nerve injuries treated during World War I inspired the publication of several medical handbooks and medical theses, such as that of the military surgeon Major Robert Bretton (1889-1956). The aim of this paper is, via Céline's injury, to explore the management of radial nerve injury during and since World War I.
