Introduction: Choledocholithiasis is most often managed in a two-procedure pathway including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) followed by laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). In contrast, a single-stage, surgery-first approach consisting of LC, cholangiogram, and laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCBDE) is associated with reduced hospital stays and equivalent morbidity. Despite this, nationwide referral patterns heavily favor ERCP, obscuring those undergoing ERCP with obstructions amenable to simple intraoperative interventions.

Because these additives are also found not to compromise mAbs' stability against aggregation induced by stresses, a drug-delivery modality switch from intravenous infusions to more convenient and inexpensive parenteral options like subcutaneous injections may become possible.

Three classes of cyclic peptides (cyclized via disulfide bond between two Cys) were identified with consensus sequences XArXCPY(G/D)LCArIX (Ar = aromatic, Tn6), X(2)CXYYGTCLX (Tn7), and NHGCYNSYGVPYCDYS (Tn10). These peptides bound to fibrin at ∼2 sites with K(d) = 4.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA simple methodology has been successfully employed to explain the solvent dependence of the substrate specificity of enzymes in organic media. This methodology, which does not require the knowledge of the enzyme structure and is thus applicable to lyophilized and other noncrystalline enzyme preparations, predicts that the k(cat)/K(M) ratio for two substrates should be proportional to their Raoult's law activity coefficients. This approach has been validated for two enzymes, subtilisin Carlsberg and alpha-chymotrypsin, catalyzing the propanolysis of unnatural (in addition to natural) ester substrates in a variety of anhydrous solvents.

The major separations in water quality are linked to geology and groundwater chemistry as modified by the impacts of point source sewage effluents. The water quality of the major tributaries and the main stem of the River Avon are linked to the relative contributions of these source types, the impact of further direct effluent inputs to the main channel and in-stream processing.
