UK female veterans' physical health: perceived impact of military service and experiences of accessing healthcare. Findings of a qualitative study.

Introduction: Women make up almost 14% of the UK's veteran population; however, little is known about female veterans' physical health and experiences of accessing healthcare after military service. As part of a qualitative study to understand female veterans' experiences of statutory and charitable support, participants were asked if they felt anything about their military service had impacted their physical health as civilians. They were also asked about their experiences with accessing healthcare and any associated challenges.

Field abundance and spatial patterns of ear-feeding insect pests in relation to levels of defective kernels in processing sweet corn.

Effects of mowing on the arthropod community in grass buffers and adjacent crop fields.

Grass buffers are commonly planted along crop borders to filter nutrient and pesticide runoff. These buffers also provide food and shelter for beneficial and herbivorous arthropods and can serve as corridors for their movement into neighboring crops. Mowing is a common maintenance practice to control woody plants in these buffers.

Leaf abaxial immunity to powdery mildew in Arabidopsis is conferred by multiple defense mechanisms.

Powdery mildew fungi are obligate biotrophic pathogens that only invade plant epidermal cells. There are two epidermal surfaces in every plant leaf: the adaxial (upper) side and the abaxial (lower) side. While both leaf surfaces can be susceptible to adapted powdery mildew fungi in many plant species, there have been observations of leaf abaxial immunity in some plant species including Arabidopsis.
