20-carbon fatty acid-derived eicosanoids are versatile signaling oxylipins in mammals. In particular, a group of eicosanoids termed prostanoids are involved in multiple physiological processes, such as reproduction and immune responses. Although some eicosanoids such as prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) have been detected in some insect species, molecular mechanisms of eicosanoid synthesis and signal transduction in insects have been poorly investigated.

The broad-spectrum neutral amino acid transporter (B0AT1), encoded by Slc6a19, is the major neutral amino acids transporter in intestine and kidney. B0AT1 deficiency in C567Bl/6J mice, causes aminoaciduria, lowers insulinemia and improves glucose tolerance.

We present the case of a woman in her 70s who sustained a comminuted open ankle fracture, with garden soil contamination of the wound, which was treated according to orthoplastic principles. The patient developed osteomyelitis 6 months postsurgery.

- The rising global impact of substance use, including various drugs, is a significant concern, particularly in Australia and New Zealand, where these substances are among the top causes of disease burden.
- The Monitoring Illicit Substance Use (MISUse) Consortium was created to study these substances more effectively by combining data from four established cohort studies across the two countries, which will allow for larger and more comprehensive research.
- The goal of the MISUse Consortium is to better understand the patterns and long-term effects of illicit substance use, with an emphasis on finding modifiable factors that can inform public health policies and interventions.
Objective: To compare the prevalence and clinical characteristics of early gestational diabetes (eGDM) and associated birth outcomes amongst women of different ethnic groups.
Research Design And Methods: This is a secondary analysis of an international, multicentre randomized controlled trial of treating eGDM among pregnant women with GDM risk factors enrolled <20 weeks' gestation. The diagnosis of GDM was made using WHO-2013 criteria.
