Problem: Exposing medical students to a broad range of illness experiences is crucial for teaching them to practice patient-centered care, but students often have limited interaction with patients with diverse illness presentations.

Approach: The authors developed, implemented, and evaluated a self-directed online curriculum followed by a small-group discussion focused on depression education. The curriculum was based on a module created using the Database of Individual Patients' Experiences methodology.

No neutral silicon Lewis super acids are known to date. We report on the synthesis of bis(perchlorocatecholato)silane and verify its Lewis super acidity by computation (DLPNO-CCSD(T)) and experiment (fluoride abstraction from SbF ). The exceptional affinity towards donors is further demonstrated by, for example, the characterization of an unprecedented SiO F dianion and applied in the first hydrodefluorination reaction catalyzed by a neutral silicon Lewis acid.

The Scaled Quantum Mechanical (SQM) method of scaling calculated force constants to predict theoretically calculated vibrational frequencies is expanded to include a broad array of polarized and augmented basis sets based on the split valence 6-31G and 6-311G basis sets with the B3LYP density functional. Pulay's original choice of a single polarized 6-31G(d) basis coupled with a B3LYP functional remains the most computationally economical choice for scaled frequency calculations. But it can be improved upon with additional polarization functions and added diffuse functions for complex molecular systems.

Background: For over 45 years, ovarian transposition has been proposed for patients with cervical cancer to preserve ovarian function prior to pelvic radiation. We report a case of preservation of ovarian function and regular normal menstrual cycles after pelvic cisplatin-based chemoradiation and perform a literature review.

Case: A 29-year-old female with cervical cancer underwent laparoscopic ovarian transposition prior to cisplatin-based chemoradiation.
