Triton, the largest satellite of Neptune, is in a retrograde orbit and is likely a captured Kuiper Belt Object (KBO). Triton has a mean density of only 2.061 gm/cm and is therefore believed to have a 250-400 km thick hydrosphere.

The discovery of Europa's subsurface ocean has spawned a strong desire by the planetary community to return and assess the ocean's habitability using the magnetic induction signal that Europa generates. NASA has since formulated and developed the mission with that same goal, anticipating its arrival in the Jovian system in the early 2030s. In parallel, ESA has developed the mission to further investigate the interior of Ganymede and other Jovian moons, scheduled to arrive approximately one year later.

Enterobacterales, a large order of Gram-negative bacteria, including and , are major causes of urinary tract and gastrointestinal infections, pneumonia, and other diseases in healthcare settings and communities. ESBL-producing Enterobacterales and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales can break down commonly used antibiotics, with some strains being resistant to all available antibiotics. This public health threat necessitates the development of novel antibiotics, ideally targeting new pathways in these bacteria.

In June 2020, observations of anthropogenic radionuclides in Estonia, Finland, and Sweden that were not related to any acknowledged environmental release led to a comprehensive investigation on the source and cause of the unusual emissions. Several of the observed radionuclides were on the list of Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) relevant radionuclides as an indicator of a potential nuclear test, and warranted detailed investigation. While analysis of aerosol samples coupled with Atmospheric Transport and Dispersion Modelling (ATDM) is a standard approach for environmental particulate releases, several new techniques were employed to better characterize the samples that allowed for useful inferences to be made.
