Cutaneous wounds represent a significant health concern, and effective treatment strategies are crucial for optimal healing. This study investigates the therapeutic potential of Luetzelburgia auriculata lectin (LAA), a plant-derived protein, in accelerating wound closure. Excisional wounds were created on the backs of mice, which were subsequently treated topically with LAA solutions at two concentrations (100 µg/mL and 200 µg/mL) or saline control.

Methods: Fifty individuals with CIs, 33 adults and 17 children, were included. Speech recognition tests in noise fixed and adaptive were applied with the Hearing in Noise Test (HINT), Ling test, and PTA, in the SB (in free field) and in CLABOX.
Marine debris (MD) can be a transport vector for diverse marine communities, including non-indigenous species (NIS). This study assessed MD potential role as a substrate for colonization and dispersal vector for NIS in the Madeira Archipelago (NE Atlantic) by examining three MD categories: floating (FMD), seafloor (SMD), and beached (BMD). Opportunistic sampling, conducted in collaboration with local maritime stakeholders, documented MD sightings with photographs and GPS coordinates.

Pulp mill effluents, particularly from Eucalyptus bleached kraft pulp mills, contain phosphorus concentrations that vary with operational conditions. This variability poses challenges for effective treatment and phosphorus removal.
