Article Synopsis
  • Somatic symptoms, often seen in postpartum major depressive disorder, can mimic antidepressant side effects, prompting this study to explore their correlation with depressive symptom declines measured by specific scales.
  • This research involved a secondary analysis of a previous trial with 62 participants, comparing the effects of sertraline and estradiol against placebos over 8 weeks, focusing on symptoms tracked by the SIGH-ADS and Asberg scales.
  • Results showed a positive correlation between decreases in both depressive and somatic symptoms, highlighting the need to differentiate between true side effects and symptoms of the underlying condition in postpartum treatment.

Objectives: This study aims to describe resting state networks (RSN) in patients with disorders of consciousness (DOC)s after acute severe traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Methods: Adult patients with TBI with a GCS score <8 who remained in a coma, minimally conscious state (MCS), or unresponsive wakefulness syndrome (UWS), between 2017 and 2020 were included. Blood-oxygen-level dependent imaging was performed to compare their RSN with 10 healthy volunteers.

Introduction: Patients with metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer have multiple therapeutic options. However, most are not studied in the renal replacement therapy (RRT) setting.

Case Report: We report the use of Phesgo® (subcutaneous fixed-dose combination of trastuzumab and pertuzumab) combined with exemestane as a first-line treatment of metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer in a hemodialysis patient with multiple comorbidities.

We developed a significantly improved genetically encoded quantitative adenosine triphosphate (ATP) sensor to provide real-time dynamics of ATP levels in subcellular compartments. iATPSnFR2 is a variant of iATPSnFR1, a previously developed sensor that has circularly permuted superfolder green fluorescent protein (GFP) inserted between the ATP-binding helices of the -subunit of a bacterial F-F ATPase. Optimizing the linkers joining the two domains resulted in a ~fivefold to sixfold improvement in the dynamic range compared to the previous-generation sensor, with excellent discrimination against other analytes, and affinity variants varying from 4 µM to 500 µM.

Modeling tumor metabolism in vitro remains challenging. Here, we used galactose as an in vitro tool compound to mimic glycolytic limitation. In contrast to the established idea that high glycolytic flux reduces pyruvate kinase isozyme M2 (PKM2) activity to support anabolic processes, we have discovered that glycolytic limitation also affects PKM2 activity.
