Neurodevelopmental disability (ND) poses a significant challenge to infants' socio-emotional and cognitive development, as well as to caregiving dynamics, such as parental sensitivity and mother-infant interaction. Prior research highlights the crucial role of early parenting support interventions in enhancing parental behaviors, serving as a protective developmental factor for children at risk for or diagnosed with ND. This single-cohort, multicentric study aims to evaluate the efficacy of early video-feedback intervention (VFI) in improving maternal parenting behaviors.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to investigate how smoking exposure is linked to organ damage in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) using a specific damage score (SLICC-SDI) in an Argentinian cohort.
  • Out of 623 SLE patients analyzed, 84% were non-smokers, while 16% were current smokers, with 17% showing severe organ damage (SLICC-SDI ≥3).
  • The findings indicated that current smoking, older age, longer disease duration, and the use of cyclophosphamide are significantly associated with severe organ damage in SLE patients.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to understand the parenting experience of mothers with preterm infants from birth to adolescence, shedding light on the challenges families face due to premature birth.
  • Utilizing semi-structured interviews with seven mothers of extremely low birth weight babies, researchers identified three phases of the parenting journey and eight key themes that reflect their emotions, struggles, and developmental changes.
  • The findings indicate that the impact of preterm birth is profound and long-lasting, suggesting the importance of tailored support for parents in neonatal intensive care units to enhance their resilience and coping strategies.

The Timavo River estuary (northern Adriatic Sea) is characterised by strong thermohaline stratification that keeps the deep waters hypoxic. The consequence is an harmful algal bloom at the surface in summer that can be mitigated with a forced aeration system installed at the bottom to improve water oxygenation. The nutrient and metal(loid) cycle was investigated, before and during reoxygenation, using an in situ benthic chamber coupled with sampling and analyses of the water column, sediments and porewater.

Objectives: The need for glucocorticoid-sparing drugs (GCSD) remains an important issue and is an unmet need in the treatment of polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR). We therefore aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of methotrexate (MTX) and of leflunomide (LEF) in daily clinical practice in PMR patients from Argentina.

Methods: A multicentre and observational study (medical records review) of PMR patients seen between 2007 and 2023, who had at least three months of follow-up after starting a GCSD, either MTX or LEF, was performed.
