Hilab System Device in an Oncological Hospital: A New Clinical Approach for Point of Care CBC Test, Supported by the Internet of Things and Machine Learning.

The complete blood count (CBC) is a highly requested test that is generally restricted to centralized laboratories, which are limited by high cost, being maintenance-demanding, and requiring costly equipment. The Hilab System (HS) is a small, handheld hematological platform that uses microscopy and chromatography techniques, combined with machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI), to perform a CBC test. This platform uses ML and AI techniques to add higher accuracy and reliability to the results besides allowing for faster reporting.

A Novel Severity Score Index for Febrile Neutropenic Patients with Colorectal Diseases.

Introduction: Abdominal and anorectal disorders may be the cause of clinical decompensation in neutropenic febrile patients, particularly those with hematologic diseases. Infection is a cause for concern for the colorectal surgeon. Some conditions have few manifestations and can lead to death within a short period of time.

Transanal endoscopic operation for rectal cancer after neoadjuvant therapy.

Purpose: To investigate de adjunctive effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in a group of patients with refractory Crohn's disease.

Methods: A total of 29 subjects with refractory Crohn's disease were submitted to daily sessions of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, in a 2800 Sechrist Monoplace Hyperbaric Chamber (Sechrist, USA) pressurized to 2.4 ATA.

A novel subcutaneous T-shaped bridge device for loop colostomies.

Purpose: To describe a novel securing device for loop colostomies, developed in our institution and report our 10-year experience.

Methods: The T-shaped support device was used in all patients who required loop colostomy and who were at an increased risk of stoma withdrawal. The device was removed on the fifth postoperative day in all patients.
