Insights on the Healthcare Trajectories of People Living With Dementia.

People living with dementia follow different healthcare trajectories based on the individual healthcare needs and external supports available to them. We explored healthcare trajectories involving home care and long-term care settings, associated factors and hospitalizations prior to transitioning to these settings. This study was part of a collaborative project between the Canadian Institute for Health Information and the Public Health Agency of Canada that supported the implementation of the national dementia strategy (PHAC 2019) through the Enhanced Dementia Surveillance Initiative (Government of Canada 2023).

Endoscopic transorbital approach for the removal of a frontal lobe foreign body: a case report.

Low-velocity orbital penetrating injuries may result in an intracranial retained foreign body that requires surgical removal. We describe the endoscopic transorbital removal of a retained umbrella tip in the frontal lobe, which was secondary to trauma to the orbital roof. This technique facilitated the complete removal of the foreign body without causing additional damage to the surrounding tissue.

Enhancing HPV vaccine uptake in girls and boys - A qualitative analysis of Canadian school-based vaccination programs.

The purpose of this study was to better understand barriers and enabling conditions for HPV vaccination in school-based vaccination programs in Canada. Semi-structured interviews were conducted by telephone or in person with parents, nurses, and school staff (n = 50) in three Canadian provinces. Interviews explored views on HPV and HPV vaccination, strengths and weaknesses of the school-based HPV vaccination programs and proposed interventions to increase uptake.

Biopsychosocial and Environmental Correlates of Children's Motor Competence: An Exploratory Study.

Background: Given the significance of motor competence (MC) for healthy development and as a cornerstone for lifelong physical activity (PA), it is crucial to understand the manifold factors that are associated with MC. Thus, the aim of the present study was to investigate correlates of children's MC and their fundamental movement skills (FMS) within their daily life from a comprehensive biopsychosocial-ecological perspective.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional sub-study of the 'Physical Literacy for Communities (PL4C)' WAVES cohort study conducted in the West Vancouver School District, Canada.

[Fibromuscular dysplasia of the renal arteries: what do we know in 2024?].

Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) is a rare nonatherosclerotic, noninflammatory vascular disease affecting mostly renal and carotid arteries and is the second most frequent cause of renal artery stenosis. The symptomatology is dominated by arterial hypertension due to the frequent involvement of the renal arteries and depends on the location of the lesions. Most of the cases are middle-aged women of Caucasian origin.
