Background: Transfusion is an integral part of supportive care in patients undergoing aggressive chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). As transfusion induces immune modulation, the objective of the study was to assess whether the intensity of red blood cell (RBC) and platelet (PLT) transfusion during induction chemotherapy influences complete remission (CR) and overall survival (OS) in newly diagnosed AML patients.

Methods: Details of the number of RBC units and PLT events transfused from diagnosis till completion of induction chemotherapy were collected.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the impact of adding zinc oxide (ZnO) and titanium dioxide (TiO) nanoparticles to denture base resin on its surface hardness and flexural strength during chewing and occlusal loading.
  • Five groups of acrylic resin samples were created, with one group being a control and the others containing different concentrations of nanoparticles, and their properties were tested using specific machinery.
  • Results showed that the modified denture resins had significantly improved properties, with the highest surface hardness from 1% TiO and the best flexural strength from 1% ZnO, indicating better durability compared to conventional resins.

The Gaussian signaling strategy with power control for the Gaussian Z-interference channel with weak interference is reviewed in this paper. In particular, we study the various communication strategies that may arise at various points of the capacity region and identify the locations of the phase transitions between the various strategies. The Gaussian Z-interference channel with weak interference is known to have two critical points in its capacity region, where the slope of the region shows a sudden change.

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant public health challenge in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMIC). Inappropriate use of Anti-Tubercular Treatment (ATT) undermines treatment efficacy and could contribute to drug resistance. While antimicrobial stewardship programs (AMSP) are well established, anti-tubercular treatment stewardship programs (ATTSP) in private hospitals do not have an established model.
