Rapid weight gain in infancy is associated with an increased risk of later adiposity. Very rarely, however, exclusively breastfed infants experience excessive weight gain (EWG) during the period of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) when breast milk is the only source of nutrition. Methods: This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized controlled trial. Magnetic resonance scans were performed during gestational week (GW) 15, GW 32, and around birth to measure abdominal subcutaneous (SAT) and visceral (VAT) adipose tissues, liver fat, and muscle fat.
Background: Childhood obesity can have significant negative consequences for children's wellbeing and long-term health. Prior school-based interventions to prevent child overweight and obesity have shown limited effects, highlighting the necessity for comprehensive approaches addressing complex drivers of childhood obesity. "Generation Healthy Kids" (GHK) is a multi-setting, multi-component intervention to promote healthy weight development, health and wellbeing in Danish children aged 6-11 years.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe explored the dietary intake and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in 85 survivors of pediatric stem cell transplantation (median age 30 years, median follow-up time 20 years). Overall, the distribution of fatty acid deviated from the recommendations with a higher intake of saturated fat and a lower intake of unsaturated fat but was comparable to that of the background population. The prevalence of MetS was 27%, corresponding to that of the elderly background population.

Here, we examined the association between glycemia in pregnant women with overweight or obesity without GDM and offspring metabolic health. Maternal fasting glucose concentrations and glucose 2-h after an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) were measured in 208 women with a pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) of 28-45 kg/m without GDM.
