NMOSD pathophysiology is associated with anti-aquaporin-4 (AQP4) immunoglobulin G (IgG) autoantibodies. Rapid extracorporeal elimination of autoantibodies with apheresis techniques, such as immunoadsorption (IA), was proven to be an effective treatment of NMOSD attacks.
