Background: Ventricular shunt infections lead to significant morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to identify risk factors for 30-day postoperative infection outcomes of ventricular shunts for pediatric hydrocephalus.
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study using the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) Pediatric database for years 2016-2021.
Study Design: Retrospective review.
Objectives: While most individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) are expected to have 1-2 urinary tract infections (UTIs) per year, there is a subset with higher incidence. We evaluate our practice to characterize common causes of recurrent UTIs, hypothesizing that more frequent infections typically have addressable risk factors.

This study developed an eco-friendly sample preparation method and an innovative multiplex microarray-based lateral flow immunoassay, using a novel portable reader for on-site simultaneous determination of five regulated mycotoxins-aflatoxin B, T-2 toxin, zearalenone, deoxynivalenol, and fumonisin B in rice. The eco-friendly and ultrafast extraction procedure utilizes a bio-based solvent.
