Advances in cytoreductive surgery (CRS) combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC) have improved outcomes for selected patients with peritoneal surface malignancies (PSMs). This retrospective study analyzed 743 PSM patients treated at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli from January 2016 to February 2024. The primary aim was to assess median overall survival (mOS), median disease-free survival (mDFS), and median progression-free survival (mPFS) stratified by tumor origin.

The ability to choose between options that differ in their risks and rewards depends on brain regions within the mesocorticolimbic circuit and regulation of their activity by neurotransmitter systems. Dopamine neurotransmission in particular plays a critical role in modulating such risk-taking behavior; however, the contribution of other major modulatory neurotransmitters, such as acetylcholine, is not as well-defined, especially for decision making in which the risk associated with more rewarding outcomes involves adverse consequences. Consequently, the goal of the current experiments was to examine how cholinergic signaling influences decision making involving risk of explicit punishment.

We aim to summarize current literature on the applications of VR-haptics in learning, practicing, and teaching dental education.
Methods: A literature search was performed using PubMed, focusing on research articles published between January 2010 and January 2024.
Rationale: The specific location of deviations from normative models of brain function varies considerably across individuals with the same diagnoses. However, as pathological processes are distributed across interconnected systems, this heterogeneity of individual brain deviations may also reveal similarities and differences between disorders. The paraventricular nucleus of the thalamus (PVT) is a potential switcher to various behavioral responses where functionally distinct cell types exist across its antero-posterior axis.
