ARGONAUTE (AGO) proteins bind to small non-coding RNAs to form RNA-induced silencing complexes. In the RNA-bound state, AGO is stable while RNA-free AGO turns over rapidly. Molecular features unique to RNA-free AGO that allow its specific recognition and degradation remain unknown.

Introduction: Individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and diabetic nephropathy (DN) experience progressive kidney function decline and high risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and mortality. This study explored changes in kidney function decline in new-onset DN between 2000 and 2020 and provided an updated prognosis for risk of kidney failure, CVD, and mortality.
Methods: This is a register-based cohort study in T1D with new-onset DN (severely increased albuminuria) between 2000 and 2020 at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen, Denmark.
Background: The gut microbiota has been implicated in adult obesity, but the causality is still unclear. It has been hypothesized that an obesity-prone gut microbiota can be established in infancy, but only few studies have examined the early-life gut microbiota in relation to obesity in childhood, and no consistent associations have been reported. Here, we examine the association between the early-life gut microbiota and body mass index (BMI) development and body composition throughout childhood.
