Several studies attempted to determine whether there is a relationship between the use of preoperative biliary drainage and morbidity after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). We retrospectively evaluated post-PD outcome in patients with and without preoperative biliary drainage and the role of bacteriobilia and antibiotic prophylaxis in post-operative complications. Most patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IH-CCA) are unresectable and treatment options are limited. This study evaluates the efficacy of hepatic artery infusion (HAI) chemotherapy in patients whose disease is not initially treatable with resection. We selected patients with unresectable IH-CCA treated only with HAI chemotherapy at our centre between January 2008 and December 2012.
