Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has become a method more and more frequently used in loco-regional breast cancer in the initial stages. Starting from the first report on the technical feasibility of the sentinel node method in breast cancer, published by Krag (1993) and Giuliano (1994), the method underwent numerous improvements and was also largely used worldwide. This article is a prospective study that took place at the "SJUPBT Surgery Clinic Timisoara" over a period of 1 year between July 2023 and July 2024, during which 137 underwent sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) based on the current guidelines.

Chlorogenic acids are plant secondary metabolites, chemically-polyphenols with similar biological activity, formed through the esterification of quinic acid and hydrocinnamic acid moieties. They are best known for their high concentration in coffee and other dietary sources and the antioxidant properties that they exhibit. Both chlorogenic acids and plant extracts containing significant amounts of the compounds show promising in vitro activity against colorectal cancer.

Dyslipidemia is a component of metabolic syndrome, having an important role in the carcinogenesis of different tumor types, such as prostate, ovarian, or renal cancer. The number of studies on the predictive potential of the different components of the lipid profile with a predictive potential in breast cancer is quite low. The evaluation of the lipid profile was carried out for the 142 patients who benefited from neoadjuvant therapy (NAC) in order to identify a potential predictive biomarker.

Article Synopsis
  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a significant global health issue, with infected diabetic foot ulcers (IDFUs) being a major complication that is linked to other conditions like neuropathy and dyslipidemia.
  • The study aimed to analyze lipid profiles in DM patients with IDFUs compared to those without ulcers and healthy controls, involving a total of 140 participants divided into three groups.
  • Results indicated that patients with IDFUs had lower high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels but improved levels of other lipids and apolipoprotein E (ApoE), highlighting an unusual lipid profile pattern associated with diabetic complications.
