The Bleeding Must Be Stopped! Management in the Situation of Hemorrhages-A Prospective Randomized Controlled Prospective Simulation Study.

Introduction: In a pre-hospital setting, uncontrolled hemorrhages in patients are undoubtedly a highly stressful situation for the rescuing medic, demanding prompt intervention. The effective stopping of a hemorrhage significantly reduces the risk of death for victims. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the students' chosen methods and the effectiveness of their actions during a simulated hemorrhage situation.

Implementation strategies to support recovery support workers serving criminal legal involved people who use drugs.

Introduction: Recovery support workers (RSWs) who provide social support interventions for people who use drugs (PWUD) often face challenges that can jeopardize the well-being, efficacy and sustainability of this essential workforce. To date, little has been reported on the types of implementation strategies used to support RSWs. We describe and evaluate a multifaceted implementation strategy package to support Reducing Opioid Mortality in Illinois (ROMI), a paired peer recovery coach and case manager (PRC-CM) intervention for PWUD with recent criminal-legal involvement in urban and rural settings.

Evaluation of the Effect of Antibacterial Toothpastes Containing Chlorhexidine and Amine Fluoride on Oral Flora in Patients Undergoing Orthodontic Treatment-A Randomised Controlled Trial.

Objectives: To compare the efficacy of chlorhexidine (CHX) and amine fluoride (AF) toothpastes on oral flora in fixed orthodontic treatment patients.

Methods: Thirteen patients were given toothpaste containing AF, and 12 patients were given toothpaste containing CHX. Microbial and periodontal records were taken before, 1 week, and 5 weeks after the bonding procedure.

Higher-order epistasis within Pol II trigger loop haplotypes.

RNA polymerase II (Pol II) has a highly conserved domain, the trigger loop (TL), that controls transcription fidelity and speed. We previously probed pairwise genetic interactions between residues within and surrounding the TL for the purpose of understand functional interactions between residues and to understand how individual mutants might alter TL function. We identified widespread incompatibility between TLs of different species when placed in the Saccharomyces cerevisiae Pol II context, indicating species-specific interactions between otherwise highly conserved TLs and its surroundings.

Periodic diffraction from an aperiodic monohedral tiling - the Spectre tiling. Addendum.

This article describes the diffraction pattern (2-periodic Fourier transform) from the vertices of a large patch of the recently discovered `Spectre' tiling - a strictly chiral aperiodic monotile. It was reported recently that the diffraction pattern of the related weakly chiral aperiodic `Hat' monotile was 2-periodic with chiral plane-group symmetry p6 [Kaplan et al. (2024).
