  • Hyaluronan acid and its receptors (CD168/RHAMM and CD44) are linked to tumor growth and invasion, but their expression in pediatric leukemias is not well-studied.
  • The study analyzed bone marrow biopsies from pediatric leukemia patients, assessing RHAMM expression and correlating it with factors like initial blast count, post-induction blast count, and patient survival.
  • Results showed a moderate correlation between RHAMM expression and post-induction blast count in acute myeloid leukemia, with higher RHAMM positivity indicating a poorer prognosis in both types of acute leukemia analyzed.
