Kawasaki disease (KD) is a systemic vasculitis with an unclear origin primarily affecting young children. The sole difference between complete and incomplete KD upon presentation is the number of signs and symptoms. Scrub typhus continues to pose a significant threat to life, manifesting in a spectrum that ranges from mild, non-specific febrile illness to severe multi-organ dysfunction. Although neuropsychiatric symptoms are rare in cases of scrub typhus, we present a unique case involving a 60-year-old male who initially exhibited fever and headache, subsequently developing neuropsychiatric symptoms on the third day of hospitalization. Following the exclusion of prevalent metabolic, autoimmune, and infectious conditions, he was diagnosed with hypoactive delirium associated with scrub typhus.

Bis(indolyl)methanes (BIMs) are important heterocycle-containing molecular scaffolds that show remarkable biological and pharmacological activities. This work reports the synthesis of novel BIMs using carbohydrate-derived 5-substituted-2-furaldehydes as renewable reactants. Structural diversity was introduced in the BIMs as substituents in the indole and furaldehyde moieties.

Objectives: An estimated 5-20% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) fail multiple treatments and are considered "difficult-to-treat" (D2T), posing a substantial clinical challenge for rheumatologists. A European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) task force proposed a definition of D2T-RA in 2021. We applied EULAR's D2T definition in a cohort of patients with established RA to assess prevalence and we compared clinical characteristics of participants with D2T-RA with matched comparisons.
