[Efficacy of periurethral injections of polyacrylamide hydrogel (Bulkamid(®)) and quality of life of patients with urinary incontinence due to sphincter deficiency (IUE-IS)].

Introduction: This study was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of periurethral injection of polyacrylamide hydrogel (PAHG, Bulkamid(®), Ethicon) for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI).

Methods: Single-center prospective study: periurethral injection of Bulkamid(®) was performed in 80 patients with severe urinary incontinence between June 2010 and October 2011. The evaluation of the impact on quality of life was carried out using the Patient Global Impression of Severity (PGI-S), the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire - Short Form (ICIQ-SF) and Patient Global Impression of Improvement (PGI-I) before and after treatment.
