Nonfatal Strangulation Injuries: Improving Physician Knowledge and Attitudes.

In the emergency department, physicians evaluate patients who have experienced nonfatal strangulation resulting from sexual assault or intimate partner violence. Given the prevalence and potential consequences of nonfatal strangulation injuries, physicians need confidence in their decision-making for these patients. Previous educational interventions effectively improved physician knowledge of sexual assault and intimate partner violence patients; however, no studies have been conducted with the goal of improving physician knowledge about nonfatal strangulation injuries in this population.

Point-of-Care Ultrasound Education During a Pandemic: From Webinar to Progressive Dinner-Style Bedside Learning.

Objective: Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), traditionally, requires the proximity of learners and educators, making POCUS education challenging during the COVID-19 pandemic. We set out to evaluate three alternate approaches to teaching POCUS in UME. Sessions progressed from an online seminar to a remote, interactive simulation to a "progressive dinner" style session, as precautions evolved throughout the pandemic.

Effect of inclined positioning on first-pass success during endotracheal intubation: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Endotracheal intubation is a high-risk procedure. Optimisation of all aspects of the procedure, including patient positioning, is important to facilitate success and minimise complications. The objective of this systematic review was to determine the association between inclined patient positioning and first-pass success and other clinically important outcomes among patients undergoing endotracheal intubation.

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in adults: A case in a previously healthy adult.

A 25-year-old previously healthy female presented to the emergency department (ED) with 5 days of rash, fevers, shortness of breath, and generalized weakness. She had presented to another ED 4 days previously and noted that her rash had improved, but her other symptoms were worsening. She had recovered from COVID-19, confirmed by positive antigen test 5 weeks prior.
