Crisis geographies from above and below: Constructing globality during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this paper, we posit that the 'global' status of the pandemic is not an essentialized feature of the crisis, but a product of social construction by political leaders. More specifically, we examine how political leaders of a superpower and a peripheral nation produce the pandemic's globality through crisis geographies from above and below. Utilizing a mixed methods framework, we analyse public speeches by Donald Trump of the United States and Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines through a critical approach to text analytics.

Postpartum menstrual equity: Video and audio analysis of vaginal bleeding counseling during postpartum inpatient care at a southeastern US tertiary hospital.

Background: Despite the universal nature of postpartum vaginal bleeding after childbirth and the importance of managing vaginal bleeding in the postpartum period to monitor health status, little is known about the information or products that birthing individuals are provided. Investigating current practices may offer insights to enacting more supportive and equitable postpartum care.

Objective: To evaluate the patterns and content of vaginal bleeding counseling provided to birthing parents while on a postnatal inpatient unit.

The Escherichia coli cAMP receptor protein (CRP) relies on the F-helix, the recognition helix of the helix-turn-helix motif, for DNA binding. The importance of the CRP F-helix in DNA binding is well-established, yet there is little information on the roles of its non-base-contacting residues. Here, we show that a CRP F-helix position occupied by a non-base-contacting residue Val183 bears an unexpected importance in DNA binding.

Aiming for transformations in power: lessons from intersectoral CBPR with public housing tenants (Québec, Canada).

Intersectoral collaborations are recommended as effective strategies to reduce health inequalities. People most affected by health inequalities, as are people living in poverty, remain generally absent from such intersectoral collaborations. Community-based participatory research (CBPR) projects can be leveraged to better understand how to involve people with lived experience to support both individual and community empowerment.
