Neutralizing antibody titer has been a surrogate endpoint for guiding COVID-19 vaccine approval and use, although the pandemic's evolution and the introduction of variant-adapted vaccine boosters raise questions as to this surrogate's contemporary performance. For 985 recipients of an mRNA second bivalent or monovalent booster containing various Spike inserts [Prototype (Ancestral), Beta, Delta, and/or Omicron BA.1 or BA.

Mobile elements (ME) can transpose by copy-and-paste mechanisms. A heterozygous insertion in APOB exon 3 coding sequence was suspected in a patient with hypobetalipoproteinemia (HBL), by gel electrophoresis of the PCR products. An insertion of a 85 bp fragment flanked by a polyA stretch and a target replication site duplication was identified as a ME insertion (MEI) from the AluYa5 subfamily, NM_000384.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study assessed the effectiveness of a COVID-19 Sanofi booster vaccine by measuring neutralizing antibody levels in COVAIL recipients as a predictor of COVID-19 risk.
  • - Higher levels of antibody titers were found to be associated with a lower risk of COVID-19, indicated by adjusted hazard ratios of 0.30 and 0.25 for different titer measurements.
  • - An increase of 10-fold in the weighted average titer substantially reduced the risk, suggesting that higher antibody levels can offer better protection against the virus.

An early prediction of outcomes of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (NE) is of key importance in reducing neonatal mortality and morbidity. The objectives were (i) to analyze the characteristics of miRNA expression and metabolic patterns of neonates with NE and (ii) to assess their predictive performance for neurodevelopmental outcomes. Plasma samples from moderate/severe NE patients (N = 92) of the HYPOTOP study were collected before, during, and after therapeutic hypothermia (TH) and compared to a control group (healthy term infants).

Introduction: is a wild relative of tomato reported to exhibit resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. There is potential to improve tomato cultivars via breeding with wild relatives, a process greatly accelerated by suitable genomic and genetic resources.

Methods: In this study we generated a high-quality, chromosome-level, assembly for the accession LA1972 using a hybrid assembly strategy with ~180 Gbp of Illumina short reads and ~50 Gbp long PacBio reads.
